Welcome to the New Year--2025.
It’s already been a busy one for NDOT crews, with a winter storm impacting Nashville earlier in the month. Take a look at NDOT’s new snow routes and stay up to date on our process for snow removal.

* Hired and onboarded 199 new employees across the department and attended 14 job fairs.

* Repaired over 40,000 potholes on Nashville roads.
* Collected 17,904 tons of brush (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/right-way-maintenance/brush-and-yard-waste-collection) from neighborhood rights-of-way.

* From September 2024 when electronic citation was introduced, cited 223 vehicles for obstructing bike lanes around the city.
* Resolved over 5,690 cases of abandoned vehicles in the right-of-way.

* Awarded 14 tactical urbanism projects through the Tactical Urbanism Funding Program (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/plans-and-programs/tactical-urbanism-program) . Projects will be installed in 2025.

* Coordinated removal of 272 tons of litter from Nashville streets through neighborhood cleanups (http://stoplitter.nashville.gov) and the right-of-way litter removal program.

* Received $18.5 million in grant funding to upgrade traffic signals in Downtown Nashville as part of Connect Downtown (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/plans-and-programs/connect-downtown) ’s implementation, add electric charging infrastructure in partnership with Metro General Services, and make North Nashville and Nolensville Pike safer for all roadway users through the deployment of LiDAR technology (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/traffic-management-center/laddms-program) .

* Installed 55 Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons city-wide to improve pedestrian safety at key crossings as part of ongoing Vision Zero work.
* Installed 6 pedestrian hybrid beacons to allow for safer mid-block crossings at key locations.
* Enhanced safety at 15 Nashville schools (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/projects/school-zones) by adding signage, street markings, and other traffic calming measures.
* Completed the Demonbreun Bikeway (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/projects/bikeways/demonbreun-street) Redesign project, enhancing safety on a busy Nashville bikeways corridor.
* Continued progress on engagement and design of the Gallatin Pike/Main St Vision Zero Safety Project (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/projects/complete-streets/gallatin-pike-and-main-street) .
* Released Vision Zero safety public service announcements (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/plans-and-programs/vision-zero/media-toolkit) across local television stations, local radio stations, YouTube, and social media.

* Organized Nashville’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Summit and welcomed 100 attendees and more than 15 agencies to learn more about TDM. (https://nashconnector.org/)

Opened Nashville’s first Traffic Management Center (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/traffic-management-center) , to manage traffic in real time and allow for more efficient, safer commutes.

** Christmas Tree-Cycling Program
------------------------------------------------------------
The Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-Off Program (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/right-way-maintenance/brush-and-yard-waste-collection) will run from December 26, 2024 through February 14, 2025 at selected Metro Parks locations. Trees must be cleaned of wooden stands, watering bowls, ornaments, lights, wire, string, and other decorations before drop-off. No artificial trees will be accepted. You can donate artificial trees or take them to any of our 4 Metro convenience centers (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/water/waste-and-recycling/convenience-centers) for disposal. Please do not dump any other items at these drop-off locations.

The brush collection crew will also collect your Christmas Tree en route with your brush. There will be no special pick-ups for trees.
