** Open Streets Summer Series this Sunday!
------------------------------------------------------------
https://www.walkbikenashville.org/events_calendar

We’re partnering with Walk Bike Nashville (https://www.walkbikenashville.org/) to open up downtown streets to people during Walk Bike Nashville's Open Streets Summer Series! From noon to 5 p.m., on July 20, August 17, and September 7, a five-mile loop will be closed to cars and open for Nashvilliians to walk, bike, and explore.

The route, which was also the Five-Mile City Tour route at Tour de Nash, loops along the Cumberland River through neighborhoods like Rolling Mill Hill and The Gulch. Whether you're stopping at a restaurant for a snack, catching an outdoor performance at a music venue, or popping into a local shop, there are so many ways to try out new spots or revisit old favorites. Or, claim your own space and sidewalk games or just kick back and relax.

There’s no registration required to participate.

The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) has launched an Open Streets Program in partnership with Walk Bike Nashville, making it easier for Nashville residents to bring Open Streets to their neighborhoods.

Progress in Motion
East Thompson Lane Multimodal Project
From June 26^th through June 30^th, NDOT hosted a pilot demonstration of a proposed updated road design as part of the East Thompson Lane Multimodal Project (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/projects/complete-streets/east-thompson-lane-multimodal-project) .

The pilot demonstration, which spanned just over a mile from the Kroger driveway to Lawndale Drive, is part of the project’s planning phase. The proposed design includes the removal of right-turn lanes to be converted to buffered bike lanes as a multi-use pathway. During the demonstration, NDOT stationed cones to simulate the proposed lanes next to current traffic, gathered public feedback via an online survey, and hosted a guided bike ride with community members.

“I loved when I was driving how much calmer it felt, because people were going slower,” she said. “Everyone was a bit more aware of what’s going on.” -Monica W.

“If there were bike lanes like this everywhere, it would be stress-free enough that I would bike a lot more,” he said. - David I.

Survey feedback will help determine the project’s next steps: Provide your feedback (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EThompLn2) .
