Raised Crosswalks in Nashville

This week crews began construction on a new raised crosswalk on Rep. John Lewis Way N at the Cumberland River Greenway connection. The project is expected to be completed early next week.

Raised crosswalks improve safety by naturally slowing vehicle speeds and creating a continuous, accessible crossing environment for pedestrians and cyclists.

Crews completed a raised crosswalk last month on 3rd Ave South at Symphony Place. Raised crosswalks will also be installed on Anne Dallas Dudley Blvd at Church Street and 4th Ave South at Symphony Place.
Open Streets Downtown on Saturday, June 13
Open Streets Downtown, presented by Amazon and Spin, is back with another car-free, community-powered block party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13.

** Gallatin Pike/Main Street Road Work
------------------------------------------------------------

On Monday, June 8 NDOT Crews will begin removing the old trolley tracks on Gallatin Pike, reducing traffic to one lane in each direction. Work will take place between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM for 3-5 days, weather dependent.

This preliminary work will take place from the north entrance of Kroger near Jet’s Pizza up toward Seymour Avenue, within the broader project limits of Eastland Avenue to Seymour Avenue on Gallatin Pike.

Design work for the Main/Gallatin Vision Zero project (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/projects/complete-streets/gallatin-pike-and-main-street) is still underway, with final designs expected later this summer. This is early prep work required before the Vision Zero project can begin.
