** Open Streets Summer Series this Sunday!
------------------------------------------------------------
https://www.walkbikenashville.org/events_calendar
We’re partnering with Walk Bike Nashville (https://www.walkbikenashville.org/) to open up downtown streets to people during Walk Bike Nashville's Open Streets Summer Series! From noon to 5 p.m., on July 20, August 17, and September 7, a five-mile loop will be closed to cars and open for Nashvilliians to walk, bike, and explore.
There’s no registration required to participate.
The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) has launched an Open Streets Program in partnership with Walk Bike Nashville, making it easier for Nashville residents to bring Open Streets to their neighborhoods.

NDOT Excellence
On August 12, 2025, NDOT Sustainability and Resilience Engineer, Melisa Hayes, presented at the 2025 ITE International meeting in Orlando, FL.
Melisa presented on NDOT's Multimodal Traffic Analysis (MMTA) (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/developers/multimodal-transportation-analysis) as a best practice for ensuring developers are considering and including the mobility and safety needs of all road users in their projects.
ITE is a community of transportation professionals who are committed to the safety of all modes of travel on the transportation system.
Progress in Motion
Jefferson Street Bikeway Improvements
The Jefferson Street bikeway improvements are nearly complete. This project spans from 3rd Ave North east of the river to N 1st Street/Dickerson Pike to Grace Street.
The bikeway and pedestrian improvements create a safer connection between Germantown and East Nashville.
Light Up My Crosswalk Pilot Project
As part of Nashville’s Vision Zero initiative (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/transportation/plans-and-programs/vision-zero/action-plan) , 'Light Up My Crosswalk' installs a device that works with the pedestrian signal to illuminate the pedestrian crosswalk. The devices have been installed at the intersection of Abbott Martin at Cross Creek Road and Lafayette Street at Wharf Avenue.
NDOT is committed to ensuring that Nashvillians get to their destination safely.
